The Church dates from around 1250, and has seen little alteration since, lending it a very special, peaceful atmosphere. For some time, the roof has been leaking, jeopardising not only the roof timbers but also the wonderful ancient oak pews and fitments, and the medieval wall painting depicting St. Christopher and the Christ Child, one of the oldest surviving examples of this subject. Sadly, the pace of deterioration has recently increased and we need to take action now.
The fund-raising committee has embarked on the challenge of raising approximately £50,000 for a new roof and other additional essential repairs. Along with local fundraising, we hope to be successful in securing grants and awards from a number of bodies such as English Heritage.
